Why we’re here

We realize that the vast majority of people in our community don’t attend church, but “everyone has a story to tell.” We would love to hear yours.

Our community of Georgina has a story. We see the beauty and potential of our lakeside town and want to be part of what God wants to do here in making it a wonderful place to live.

How does your story connect with God’s story and how can we experience the goodness of God amongst us. Let’s find out together.

We long for Georgina to be spiritually and culturally renewed and to become a place where grace and mercy reign, where peace is practiced and lived out, and where racial, ethnic, and socio-economic differences are removed by the power of the good news of Jesus Christ.

who we are

We are a reasonably
new church

Keswick Presbyterian Church began in September of 1997. God impressed it upon Reverends Kirk and Allyson MacLeod to begin a new Presbyterian congregation in Georgina. It started by going door to door with a handful of people and gathering in the Georgina Ice Palace. Since then, God has blessed us with a growing family, which is what Kes Pres feels like—family.

We are a small church

On a typical Sunday morning you might see between 90-120 people join for worship. As a growing congregation we are doing our best to put the right programs and people in place to serve the needs of those who call Kes Pres home as well as our community at large.

We are a
presbyterian church

Kes Pres is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Canada with a rich heritage and transparent and accountable governance. Our doctrinal beliefs are expressed in the documents, of the Westminster Confession of Faith and Living Faith and are Reformed in our theology. Our worship services tend to be more contemporary. When you enter the church, grab a Bible and follow along with the songs on the screen in front of you. If you attend a few times, you’ll find that the services differ a little week to week.

WHAT WE WANT TO BECOME

We don’t pretend to be perfect, but together we are trying to grow to be more like Jesus—offering one another grace, mercy and encouragement to become who we were meant to be. In fact, we want you to be able to see Jesus in us. We’d love for you to join us on that journey.

WHY WE’RE HERE

We also realize that the vast majority of people in our community don’t attend church, but “everyone has a story to tell.” We would love to hear yours. Our community of Georgina has a story. We believe the gospel of Christ completely transforms all of life. It changes how we view ourselves—that we are part of a broken and sin-riddled world. It changes how we view God as we learn that we are more loved and forgiven than we could ever dream. It transforms how we view others—to see them as image-bearers of God with incredible value and dignity.

The gospel creates what philosopher Augustine called a new city within the existing city: “the City of God.” In this city, mercy triumphs over judgment; collaboration replaces competition; equality replaces elitism; and people have intrinsic dignity, regardless of their station or standing in life. Love for God and others is the primary motivation for all that we do– in work, play, and rest. We want that to be a reality for Georgina.

JESUS CHANGES EVERYTHING

IN APPRECIATION FOR OUR FOUNDERS KIRK AND ALLYSON MACLEOD

We are blessed to have been under the ministry of Reverends Kirk and Allyson MacLeod, who followed God’s promptings to begin KesPres almost 30 years ago. We are indebted to their sacrificial and spiritual leadership. And while they have been called to lead a congregation on the East Coast, that is really ‘home’ for them, we trust KesPres will always be home for them too.

We pray God’s blessings in their new ministry and that they will impact people’s lives there as they did here. They have always been ‘kingdom’ minded people—thinking beyond the local church—and the kingdom is better for it.
