“Professor and author Alister McGrath tells the story of growing up in rural Ireland and saying the Athanasian Creed in church one Sunday morning. At one point they got to the words in the creed that say, “The Father incomprehensible. The Son incomprehensible. The Spirit incomprehensible to which an older, hard of hearing, farmer said under his breath, but still loud enough for young Alister to hear, “The whole darn thing is incomprehensible…”
