Maybe, like me, you missed it. There’s so much entrapment, dissection and innuendo going on in this 6th chapter of Nehemiah, that it goes almost completely unnoticed. There is no cheering, no fireworks, no party. In fact, Nehemiah records the completion of the wall in such an understated way, I really did miss it until my third read through. The whole un-event is surrounded by such turmoil and distraction it is perhaps not surprising that Nehemiah can afford to give it such a small amount of his attention.
