At KesPres we want children/youth to know they are loved, first and foremost. We do this through a variety of ways but the primary avenue is through our children/youth programs that happen every Sunday morning.
On Sunday mornings for the first 15 or so minutes families worship together. Following Kid’s Korner (an age appropriate song and story at the front of the sanctuary for our younger children) our kids/youth (toddlers to high schoolers) head to an age appropriate supervised time of learning.
Toddlers, (up to JK) for example, head to the green room for Play N Worship where there will be songs, a video, crafts and a story. In our Children’s Worship program kids SK to Grade 4 will enjoy a video driven curriculum from Elevation that has story, song, games and a practical application of faith in their lives. Our Juniors (Grade 5-8) follow Grapple which look at everyday issues and concerns that kids that age “grapple” with and how to live Godly lives. And finally our High School kids also meet (Gr 9-12) to discuss relevant topis that help them keep Jesus in their lives for a lifetime.
Children/Youth are also invited to participate in worship where once a month, with adults, we come and celebrate around the communion table and remember what Jesus did for us all. Some of the children also help in worship by reading scripture, greeting at the door or when they get older mentor our younger kids.
At present we also have a Junior Youth Group (Grade 5-8) that meets every other Saturday for a fun filled themed evening with a lesson for life.
So whether kids/youth gather at the front, come around the table, join together at a summer morning camp or just hang out at a family event we want our children/youth to know that they are an important part of the church and not simply the church of tomorrow because KesPres is a place where they can grow, mature and develop a lifelong love of Jesus.
